The HBCU love has been at an all-time high recently. From moving into the dorms to everyone and their mothers going to HBCU homecomings like its a holiday, these institutions inspire immense school pride. There was even a viral trend of turning Hogwarts into an HBCU.

Several celebrities have proudly sent their children off to Historically Black Colleges and Universities for a learning experience like no other. Here’s a list of some of the most recent to do so.

Dr. Heavenly

“Married To Medicine’s” Dr. Heavenly is getting ready to send her daughter off to Florida A&M University. In an Instagram post, she shared the news with followers saying, ““My baby girl is all grown up.” Her daughter, Alura Kimes, follows in her mother’s footsteps as FAMU is her alma mater as well.

Dondré Whitfield

Actor, Dondré Whitfield’s daughter Parker made her commitment to Spelman University in January. Whitfield shared the news on social media saying “We are so excited that Parker has chosen @spelman_college as her ‘great experience’! It will undoubtedly offer her a top tier education, sisterhood, and citizenship.” Whitfield is known for his roles in a variety of productions including “Two Can Play That Game” and “Girlfriends”

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt celebrated sending their daughter, Zahara, off to Spellman last fall. Jolie also attended the HBCU’s homecoming last year. Despite keeping a very low profile, several images and videos of her enjoying the festivities were shared on social media.

Shaquille O’Neal

NBA legend, Shaquille O’Neal’s son, Shaqir was scouted by several different schools while playing basketball his senior year of high school. In May of 2021, he announced that his final decision was to attend HBCU, Texas Southern University.
