Every May we celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Month and uplift those in the community. This year, celebrate by putting some influencers who understand the role of being Black and Asian on your radar. These up and coming personalities each have their own unique style:

Anisha Thai

Anisha Thai is a half-Vietnamese and half-Comoran dancer. Born and raised in Paris, she learned the art of dance at the age of five and never turned back. Now, she brings the rhythm of Afro-beats to the streets of Hong Kong. Not only does she know how to move her body on beat but she is also a civil engineer and model. Her ultimate goal is to spread Afro culture in Asia and bridge those cultural gaps  through dance. Check her out!

Yasna Vismale

Yasna Vismale is of Japanese and Afro-Caribbean decent and prides herself on being a polymath. On her Tiktok account she often discusses some of her day to day encounters as a Blasian American. This influencer is a hyphenate boasting roles such as a student, researcher, model, author and composer. Vismale recently published her first book “Werk Your Net” where she challenges the invisible barriers that are put up in professional settings to prevent those of marginalized background of getting ahead. Tsunari

Thai-Trinidadian singer Tsunari is ready to change the music scene. She spent most of her childhood moving around the world living in places like Saudia Arabia to London. As an R&B artist, Tsunari’s goal is to personalize the sound of her music to reflect her multiple cultural identities. With influences like Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Beyoncé, along with her Thai hip hop roots, she is sure to send your ears to a new dimension.
