Beats x Kim is the collaboration that no one asked for nor did they think they would need. But it turns out – maybe Kim Kardashian knew something that we didn’t.

On August 9, Kim Kardashian took to her Instagram page to share her latest innovation with her 329 million followers.

The 41-year-old mother of four and middle Kardashian sister started with a cryptic video clip which implied that “Beats x Kim” was coming. Then followed up with a more detailed post letting us know exactly what that meant.

“beats x kim- I’m so excited to share Beats Fit Pro by @beatsbydre will be coming soon in 3 signature neutrals, designed by me!” she wrote in the post’s caption. “Can’t wait for you to try them out on 8/16.”

And there it was. Kim was bridging the gap between technology and fashion – and providing an option for those of us who were sick of choosing from white and black colorways for ear accessories.

“The reimagined Beats Fit Pro comes in three neutral colors: Moon (light), Dune (medium) and Earth (deep),” read the exclusive press release.  “Versatile hues and the innovative wingtip design provide a secure fit to seamlessly transition through the day’s activities, from the gym to the office and everywhere in between. Equally designed as a statement accessory, users can express their identity through color by creating monochromatic or contrasted looks.”

“I was just bringing my creative concept and color palette to a brand that I’ve always respected and  loved,” Kardashian said. “It doesn’t have to be anything loud, it just can blend in with what you’re wearing. It’s kind of a statement.”

“Whether it’s music or you’re running around and you have your Fits Pro in – I just feel like life is so crazy, everything else should be really simple,” she continued.

An innovation that seemed genius to some yet vain to others, Kardashian still managed to shake the internet with her flesh-toned range of shades.

And for good worth.

The Beats x Kim range is stylish. And for that reason alone, there’s a strong chance that they’ll replace your Apple AirPods – like they have for me.

Its wingtip design allows it a more comfortable fit in the ear. And the product still achieves the same listening experience with its Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency, Adaptive EQ Modes, Spatial Audio and head tracking features.

But perhaps the greatest achievement with these buds is the price.

Apple’s AirPod Pros currently sit at $249, while Beats x Kim is available for $199. And although the Beats Fits Pro custom headphones are currently sold out on the Apple website, a price difference like that – with comparable audio features – is worth waiting for.

You also should know that the headphones come packaged with three silicone earbuds, ranging in size. As well as a USB-C cord for charging (the cord is compatible with Apple’s 20W USB-C Power Adapter, used with the latest iPhone models).

The headphones pair with both Apple and Android devices (Android devices require downloading the Beats companion app). And the earbuds have six hours of listening time with an additional 18 provided by its pocket-sized charging case.

So is Beats x Kim worth it? Well, I’d say so.

Beats x Kim is available for purchase here (in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany and Japan) and on Amazon for $199.99 (USD). The collaboration is also available in limited quantities at select Apple Store locations and exclusive authorized resellers.
