Black Hair Excellence

Black hair has always been an integral part of Black women’s lives, and The Oprah Winfrey Network and Onyx Collective are highlighting that in “The Hair Tales,” a new docuseries that underscores the importance of Black hair through the live stories of Black women, including some prominent Black women in Hollywood. The series features Issa Rae, CHIKA, Marsai Martin, Chloe Bailey , Rep. Ayanna Pressley, and Oprah Winfrey who all share some of their most intimate hair stories with Tracee Ellis Ross. The overall project is a beautiful coalition of different lived experiences of Black women and the importance of their hair journey, highlighting the  perseverance, creativity and beauty of the process.

This six-part project is a celebration of Black hair and will feature conversations around how hair shapes the identities of Black women. Despite the controversy that is often laced around the Black hair experience, the series will inspire Black women to see their hair as  beautiful and desirable.

The project is executive produced by Oprah Winfrey, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Michaela angela Davis will premiere on October 22 on Hulu and OWNTV.
