Excitement over the upcoming “Barbie” movie starring Margot Robie, Ryan Gosling and Issa Rae has been high since the first trailer dropped. One of the promotional materials for the movie included the “This Barbie Is..” sticker that went viral. Now set to release in July, the movie takes a fresh approach to the Barbie story, blurring the lines between Barbie’s perfect world and real life. The film was inspired by Mary Phipher’s 1994 nonfiction book, “Reviving Ophelia.” Another exciting part of the movie is its original soundtrack. The “Barbie” soundtrack is also set for a July release. It brings together a host of exciting artists including Lizzo, Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice.

Singer and producer PinkPantheress is also on the soundtrack. She recently shared a teaser of the song she made for the film on TikTok. In honor of the upcoming release, here are some of the Black women involved in the “Barbie” movie.
