The viral porcelain skin makeup trend created by makeup legend Pat McGrath has taken over! The recent Maison Margiela Couture Spring/Summer 2024 runway show was a couture dream. While the collection was a success, the porcelain doll makeup stole the show.
McGrath explained in a show report that the “skin is coated in a hyper-shiny glaze, mimicking the smooth, reflective quality of glass and completing the models’ unbelievable metamorphosis.”
Is The Porcelain Skin Makeup Trend The Same As Glass Skin?
The two trends are quite different. The glass skincare routine consists of cleansing your face twice daily. It also involves using a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week and applying a hydrating serum or essence. Pat McGrath achieved the porcelain skin effect by instead using various makeup products and liquid glass. The makeup girlies have been using peel-off masks diluted with water to achieve the hyper-shiny glaze that gives off a smooth, reflective quality. Then, they paint the solution with a brush or airbrush it.
