“Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts launched a new production unit at ABC News Studios.

“The creation of this unit offers a unique opportunity to tell new and compelling stories in a wide range of formats, and we’ll also explore genres people might not expect from me,” the newly married bride told Variety.

According to Variety, ABC News’ recent initiative is yet another step to not only produce content for the Disney broadcast network but also for streaming platforms like Hulu and Disney+. In recent months, ABC News has intensified its production activities. The company introduced ABC News Studios to expand its endeavors into new content genres, such as documentaries and unscripted shows.

“We are committed to developing projects across formats and genres,” Jonathan Blakely, executive producer of Roberts’ new unit, said. “It could include everything from pop culture to true crime and some things that might surprise some people that will come from Robin.”

A sit-down interview with Kerry Washington is Roberts’ first project. Washington will reveal a family secret, which will be the first. Washington is known for not talking about her personal life. It will also be tied to the release of her memoir “Thicker Than Water.” The sit-down is scheduled to air on a special edition of “20/20” and airs this weekend at 10 p.m. ET.

Blakely shared, “more is on the way.”

“At the end of the day, a really compelling narrative story — I think that is what really resonates with people,” he added. “That’s what we are going to be focused on.”
