Serena Williams is pregnant with her second child!
The tennis superstar stole the spotlight with her baby announcement at the 2023 Met Gala. She was joined by her husband Alexis Ohanian. Williams was styled by Kesha McLeod and wore a pearl and tulle embellished Gucci gown with Tiffany and Co. jewelry. She also donned a bejeweled headpiece by Lelet New York.
While on the red carpet, Ohanian rubbed his wife’s belly indicating that they are expecting a new child. Williams then confirmed the news with Vogue while speaking to the night’s correspondent, La La Anthony.
This news is expected as she recently told Gayle Williams in an interview with CBS Mornings that she is ready to take a new step in her life outside of tennis. When asked if she will get back on the court, she answered “For now, no. I’ve literally given my whole life to tennis, and it’s time for me to give my life to something else.” The answer was a hint that she was getting ready for motherhood once more. She mentioned that her daughter, Olympia, wanted a little sister.
“Now, she prays for a sibling. I’m working on it,” Serena said.
Serena Williams’ Next Chapter
Williams announced in September 2022 that she would be taking a step back from tennis. In an essay she penned in Vogue, Williams said she is “evolving away from tennis.” However, she has made it clear that she did not consider it retirement.
“I am not retired,” Williams said at a conference in San Francisco. “The chances (of a return) are very high. You can come to my house, I have a court.”
It is exciting to see what the star’s next chapter of life will be and the expansion of her family. Her baby girl is finally getting her prayers answered.
