Whoopi Goldberg has thrown her name into the hat when it comes to replacing Pat Sajak as “Wheel of Fortune” host.
Earlier this week, Sajak announced that he will be retiring from the game show after a 41-season run. “Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” he tweeted. “It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all.”
Although names like Ryan Seacrest and Sajak’s daughter, Maggie Sajak, have been thrown around to replace the legendary host, Whoopi Goldberg placed her bid during an episode of “The View”
The cast of “The View”welcomed Jeopardy host, Ken Jennings, as a guest to discuss the future of “Wheel of Fortune.” When members of the cast asked Jennings who he thinks could replace Sajak, Goldberg chimed in and said “I want that job! I think it’d be lots of fun.”
Goldberg has just what it takes to be the host of “Wheel of Fortune,” as she has also had prior game show experience. From 1998 to 2004, she appeared as the center square on “Hollywood Squares.”
Whoopi Goldberg isn’t the only Black woman who would be fit for the job. There are a plethora of women who have hosted the game show that can easily shut down the house when it comes to a historic show like “Wheel of Fortune.”

Potential “Wheel of Fortune” Hosts
Tyra Banks has done much more than put models through bootcamp on TV. She has game show host experience on her resumé as well! She was the host of America’s Got Talent for the show’s 12th and 13th seasons.
Kim Coles has come a long way from “Living Single.” She also has some game show host experience under her belt, making her perfect for “Wheel of Fortune.” In 2009, she was the host for BET’s “Pay It Off.”
Although she is doing big things on “The Sherri Show,” comedian Sherri Shepherd also has game show experience. Shepherd’s expereince comes directly from the Game Show Network as well! From 2010-2013 she was the host of the channel’s “Newlywed Game.”
