This year’s Broccoli City Festival was one event you just had to be there for! From the musical performances to the fashions and everything in between, the event was a time that was had. Many of your favorite performers pulled up to D.C. over the weekend to perform for thousands of fans who traveled from all over to see them.

About The Festival

Broccoli City Festival is an annual event that celebrates cultural diversity and music. What many people tend to overlook, is that the event also has a huge focus on environmental awareness. First launched in 2013, its goal was, and still is, to promote social consciousness and environmental awareness. The festival always has some of the best lineups of artists to perform on stage as well. This year acts ranged from the likes of City Girls to Jazmine Sullivan.

If you missed some of the best moments from the two-day event this weekend, you’re in luck. Here are some of the best moments from Black women from the festival.

Black Women Dominating At Broccoli City

Just days after Keke Palmer had social media in a tizzy due to her boyfriend’s comments about her on Twitter, she took the Broccoli City Festival stage. Palmer was a special guest for the festival. She tore the stage up wearing a black and silver Sergio Hudson outfit. She performed many songs from her newest project, “Big Boss.”

Chlöe Bailey always delivers an entertaining performance and that was no different at this year’s Broccoli City Festival. The star wore a stunning lime green costume so that the crowd would be able to see her even all the way in the back. This performance comes shortly after the singer announced the extension of her “The In Pieces Tour.” The 15-date tour comes after her first, solo North American tour which began in April.

JT and Yung Miami of the City Girls came to the Broccoli City Festival stage and shut it down, per usual. The duo performed hits like “Rodeo,” Take Yo Man,” and more. The performance comes only a few days after JT dropped her newest single “No Bars.”

Lastly, Coco Jones performed for the first time at the festival and proved herself. The singer recently dropped the remix to her hit single “ICU” featuring the legendary, Justin Timberlake. Jones performed the original version and many of her other singles for the event. There was a moment, however, when the rain tried to end her performance but she prevailed. Once the rain began to pour, her and her band did an unplanned rendition of SWV’s “Rain,” and the crowd ate it all up!
